Renee Villanueva, lcsw

My personal journey led to my passion of helping women experience a feeling of oneness with self that transforms and brings fulfillment to every area of life.

Born in Austin & raised in Round Rock, I have grown to love and serve my city. I found my way to the social work field in 2010 and have been a practicing therapist since 2017. I have been called to this field through my own personal journey. I am half Chicana and half white who navigated the world identifying as Mexican-American which caused self identity, relationship and self care challenges.

This path to finding my authentic self lead to learning how to break family norms, identifying my core values and setting healthy boundaries that would lead to deep internal healing. This journey led to my passion of helping women experience a feeling of oneness with self that transforms and brings fulfillment to every area of life. I believe we all have a unique purpose in this world & we deserve to be our best selves while doing so.

My Approach

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Negative patterns of thought about the self and the world are challenged in order to remove anything that is not necessary right now such as unwanted behavior patterns.

Mindfulness: Engaging in the present and maintaining awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, non-judgmental & nurturing lens.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Was designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic or painful memories. EMDR facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience using eye movements (or other bilateral stimulation) to bring these to an adaptive resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced.

Mind-Body Connection: Using mind-body connection through postures, mindfulness exercises, breathwork, meditation, visualization, guided imagery and regulating difficult emotions to address physical, mental, and emotional needs.

There is no one path to healing and healing looks different for everyone. I work in collaboration with my clients and offer different modalities.
